Cecilia & Roger – Ohio City Engagement

I knew I was going to make Cecilia and Roger’s engagement shoot different. After all, I want people to have a unique experience that is just for them. All week I had been brainstorming ideas and they were coming to me fast. We needed a mixture of styles to make this shoot stand out. In the end, I chose contrasts – natural and artificial light, posed and casual, dynamic and still.

The results are certainly different than the style I am pursuing, but I still love them. Each image reflects a little of who I have been as a photographer. And I think those pieces of me work well together. Continuous and significant growth as a photographer is very important to developing one’s voice. Below you will find little pieces of mine -

This next one has to be my favorite. Roger and Cecilia were so kind to tolerate my fumbling and frustration as I tried to get a light setup. I wanted to ensure they were as bright as the flowers in the foreground, so some lighting was needed.

I wish the concept below was an original idea, but it is adapted from something else that I had seen. Playing light tag with two photographer’s speedlights is great fun, and vibrant East 4th Street makes for a killer backdrop.

Not long after the engagement shoot was Cecilia and Roger’s wedding. Those images will be up soon, but let me tell you – those two know how to plan a party! Check back soon for more images covering their wedding. Me, I am off to wake the snoring dog laying next to meet.

See y'all soon,
Hunter
