There’s a reason I don’t trust weathermen. Weathermen say they have science on their side, but I don’t buy it! Frankly, I look at the weather forecast like it was read by Rob Burgandy. For Cecilia and Roger’s wedding in Shaker Heights, the weather was supposed to be fare. Maybe just a chance of rain in the morning. I woke up on Saturday and it was pouring down rain. There was no break in sight. The rain might as well have been a hurricane!
I rushed to my computer to check the forecast – partly cloudy with a low chance of rain. But it was pouring right now?!? I looked at an animated weather map and it just showed more rain coming. Well, time to brave the weather and get to work.
My assistance and I met at the church and the weather was a little better. Instead or pouring rain, it was a light drizzle. We decided the formal photos would have to be done inside and went about our business. We setup in the church and stored the gear in the usual locations. We set about taking pictures of details, like flowers and the outside of the church. We spent some time with the bride and groom as they got ready with family. We photographed a few more details like dresses, shoes, programs and more. The guests started to arrive and were seated. I took one last look out the window before the wedding.
SUN! Lot’s and lots of sun. My streak had been upheld – I have never had a rained out wedding. Not once and today was not going to be the start. From that point on, the weather could not have been better. Maybe a little chilly, but great light. Below are a few of my favorite images from the wedding, including some great shots of Cecilia and Roger’s fantastic appetizers. Incidentally, if you need a wedding reception venue, I highly recommend Sammy’s in the Flats. Great food, great service and a beautiful location.

No rain, no problem! As for the wedding reception, Cecilia and Roger’s family and friends really cut loose with the dancing. There may have even been a synchronized “Thriller” dance, and it might have been lead by Cecilia’s sister! It was also really nice to catch up with old friends who were part of the wedding party. Seeing them really made me feel at home and more comfortable than usual with the entire group. As for the experience overall, it was definitely one of my favorite weddings all year.
That’s it for now. Don’t forget to to check Facebook for more photos and on Twitter for my daily activity.
See y'all soon,
Hunter
