Jessica and Justin first met at work. They said their relationship was nearly unavoidable. I can certainly understand why – they make an extraordinary couple together. The locations we chose for their downtown Cleveland engagement session were also unavoidable. I asked about special places for them, and almost in stereo, they responded with the same idea. Jessica and Justin are both huge sports fans (like Donald Trump saying “HUGE!”). In particular, they love the Cleveland Cav’s and Indian’s.
So Progressive Field and Quicken Loans Arena were both on the list. I wanted to ensure both locations were featured, but without going over the top. I could count on Jessica and Justin to bring sportswear, so there would be no need for photos in front of the signs. Instead, we went a little more subtle, choosing small vignettes scattered around the park and arena.
Jessica and Justin also wanted something a little more formal. I suggested Cleveland’s East 4th Street area and my favorite – the Cleveland Museum of Art. Just a quick change of clothes after the arena and we were off. I had such a great day working with them and I think you will enjoy the photos below. And, for those keeping score, Justin is Lindsay’s brother. Let’s just say it’s a sports kinda family. Both Lindsay’s and Justin’s engagement sessions featured sports themes.
I am really looking forward to both of their weddings this year and the opportunity to work with the same family twice!
Notice above how Jessica and Justin were crafty and wore their Indian’s gear under their Cavalier’s jackets. Very smart!
While the above is not technically Quicken Loans Arena, it is the parking garage. I love the light passing through the openings in the concrete walls.
For photographers reading along, I am sure we all dream of light like the above. So you know, sun light fell on the street just in front of them. The street acted like a nice natural reflector, giving creamy fill light.
The wide shot above is one of my favs! The soft tones are gorgeous, the signs set the location, and Jessica and Justin just look grand. That dress wears Jessica just perfectly!
Jessica’s whimsy and sense of humor just cracks me up. Also love the wisteria flowers matching Justin’s shirt.
That’s about all for the moment, but more will be coming soon. If you have the chance, definitely connect with us on Facebook. I would love to hear from you.
