During the (very low-budget) video, I discuss aspects of my shooting style and an overview of the VSCO package. Here is a quick list of what I cover -

• My photographic style and why VSCO Film works for me
• A walk-through of the different film emulsions included with the package
• I briefly touch on how VSCO Film works
• The additional preset “toolkit” items included with VSCO Film
• How to integrate the presets into a Lightroom workflow
• and finally, some potential hurdles to watch out for

Ethan and Jamie's engagement by Aubrey Trinnaman

I have said it before and I will say it again – my clients freakin’ rock. They are some of the nicest and most creative people. You have to check out what Ethan and Jamie created for their wedding announcement. They both work for a major technology company and have a serious creative streak. The video below is their wedding announcement.

Now that is how you get some wedding attention with style. As a wedding photographer, I absolutely love the stop-motion video. Not to mention the creative scrabble usage.

Take a moment to check out their engagement photos as well. The photos are by Aubrey Trinnaman, an amazing San Francisco fine art and wedding photographer. I love Aubrey’s California style.

Are you getting married and need ideas? Have a look around and come up with something creative. It seems certain formal aspects of traditional weddings are fading. Consider something a little outside the normal.

When I first saw the new battery-powered Elinchrom Ranger Quadra pack and head, I thought it was a waste. All that money for a pack and head system that only delivers 400 WS of power. I wanted something bigger.

Now that I have been dragging hundreds of pounds of lighting gear to weddings (my battery alone weights 25 lbs), I am beginning to rethink my choices. I really do think the Elinchrom Quadra could be perfect a wedding photographer, especially one that does not have a full-time assistant. Imagine being a wedding photographer in the middle of a hot August. Even in Cleveland, you have to think about the summer and gear weight.

[UPDATE - About two days after writing the post below, I bought a Quadra two-head setup. I have to say that I love it. However, it also means a complete move away from Alien Bees. Being a wedding photographer, I could not resist the light weight, but power system. Next will be an Elinchrom Ranger RX AS two-head system for more power.]
