Creative Wedding Photos – Polaroids

Back again with a little more of Jamie and Ethan. I mentioned before they were dream clients. Ethan and Jamie really let me experiment so I could provide creative wedding photography unique for them. Given this latitude, I went all out with Polaroids. My wife would say “he’s gone mad”, but that’s her opinion.

Armed with a 1972 Polaroid SX-70 and some decade old Polaroid TZ Artistic film, I set out to create some interesting and unique wedding portraits. The Polaroid portraits were just a nice addition to the other digital photos and not a substitution. Here are a couple of my favorites -

You can see above that the TZ Artistic film really gives an interesting, old look. Even more fun is that each film pack is different. Some packs are more green and others more pink. The camera itself is a real eye catcher too, and older than me (albeit just barely).

So where to next with the creative wedding photography? I’m started using medium format film for portions of select engagement sessions and weddings. The Fuji film I’m using gives a quality and tone that cannot be replicated with digital. While film and Polaroids certainly cost more, the results are worth every penny. Plus, it just makes me happy to hold a Polaroid or film slide and stare at it (yes, I do geeky things like that).

Look for more wedding Polaroids on the blog very soon.

See y'all soon,
Hunter
